A gorgeous rock star.
An indecent proposal.
How can a girl resist?

Struggling barista Katie Bloom doesn’t even know who Jesse Mayes is until she inadvertently wins the coveted role of sex kitten in his hot new music video. But by the time she’s in bed with him, she knows his reputation.

Love maker. Heartbreaker.

Making out with a stranger in front of a camera crew isn’t how Katie imagined herself getting over a broken heart, but when Jesse touches her, sparks fly. The sex is fake but the chemistry is real, and soon the steamy video is blazing up the charts.

Then Jesse makes Katie an irresistible offer: act as his girlfriend for six weeks while he promotes his new album. The only catch? Their sizzling make-out sessions will be for the cameras only.

Which is fine with Katie, since she's not about to trust her heart to rock's most legendary lover. Her body? Maybe…

***4 STAR***

I absolutely love rockstar romances, but they are hard to find...actually good ones that is, but I think I found it with the Dirty series.

Jessie is the lead guitarist with the world renowned rock band Dirty and he has just released his solo album. He is casting his love interest for his video when he literally runs into Katie. He loves her “everyday” look and they turn out to be electric in the video together. The fans love them as a couple so Jessie asks Katie to come on tour with him as his pretend girlfriend. Katie barely knows who the band Dirty is let alone Jesse, but instead of that being a turn off it is a turn on for Jessie because she gets to know him for him and not his rockstar status.

This was a great book. Katie really fought against her feelings for Jesse knowing that it is not a good idea to get involved with someone of his status and her fear of getting hurt again. She really ran from him in multiple ways. Jessie was charming as the bad boy guitarist and is loved by all the women so he can’t understand how Katie doesn’t fall under his spell. The book is fast paced with some steamy love scenes. I can’t wait to continue the series.

2,5 🤔😔⭐️s

Almost the first half of the book was very interesting and entertaining.

Katie was an ordinary average girl.
Jesse was the gorgeous and famous rockstar.
Katie was staring with Jesse in his new music video as his girlfriend.
After that, Jesse hired Katie to be his fake girlfriend for six weeks in his tour for his new album release.

The plot met basic requirements while the sex scenes made plenty of rounds which became repetitive and tiring.
There was neither romance nor sufficient character development. Too much sex, partying and drinking.

The epilogue had me gaping!
Neither Katie nor Jesse were mentioned, but only his sister’s next move.
The epilogue is used for closure of the current story and not for introducing the character that will follow in the next book! 🙄

RATING: 3/3.5 stars to Dirty Like Me

‘It wasn’t a love song, exactly, or a breakup song, or a make out song, but some kind of blood and gut and soul-fueled synthesis of all three. A kind of musical hate f*** wrapped in the sweetest love letter.’

’This was heartbreak in slow motion.’

Dirty Like Me takes that fanciful scenario that gives the average girl fantastical hope by placing ‘ordinary’ Katie Bloom in the shoes that some girls could only dream of; in the arms and fanatic life of a famed rockstar…perhaps I should amend that; into the fake arms of a false romance. Let the showmance commence!…

‘This fake relationship was starting to sound like a hell of a lot of fun.’

“No rest for the wicked?”
“Welcome to the fast lane, babe.”

Katie Bloom occupies the indecisive mould of someone looking to move headlong but reluctant enough to face any sort of likely heartache, both in life and in love - she’s been there, served the time and bears the marks of love lost. A skater who lives an unassuming, dormant life on the down road of low range confidence, creatively lost and dispiritedly mislaid in a routine that downplays her truest dreams and aspirations. The universe however, has plans for Katie. After almost two years of the slumberous everyday, and with the encouraging rallying of her friend, spins Katie from the run-of-the-mill to the momentously serendipitous. This way a rockstar comes…

“This is a real opportunity. Do it for your art. And for your heart.”

“I guess I kind of lost my mojo.”
“Then we’ll just have to get it back.”

Dirty is the band’s name, gritty soulful rock is their game. Lead guitarist, rock icon, heartthrob personality and all around hot blooded male, Jesse Mayes rules the spotlight along with every fanatic heart of his die hard fans. Troubled and passionately brazen, making music is a cathartic affair for Jesse, enough to write his troubles away. Jessie lets his music speak for him because he doesn’t know how to speak for himself. If you’re thinking humble, you'd be thinking wrong. Jesse Mayes is voracious, ravenous and an out of bounds outrageous mix of provocative energy and shameless suggestion, a sexy temptation that strips and rips at all seams.

“You have no shame.” He pulled me closer.
“Tell me, Katie Bloom. What do I have to be ashamed about?”

‘Cinnamon. Leather. Jesse Mayes. These were fast becoming my three favorite scents in the world.’

Jesse Mayes is made from the stuff of dirty dreams. A rock god to the core with a rock solid flagrant image of rocky pheromones that has every heart thawing for him. With a spark that flames on sight, a biting fire that erupts on screen, then torches through the internet when Jesse’s video goes viral with a buzz around new girl Katie Bloom, he has to make Katie an offer she can’t possibly refuse, surely? Not only is this music video an impressive hit and the most watched of rocks’ best, but it puts simple Katie on the map, not a map she wants to be on, but with Jesse’s new single promising big things with a curious buzz about the new girl, prompts this lead guitarist to make Katie a deal: Big money to traffic a lie; be his fake girlfriend for 6 weeks on tour. Life changing money she can put towards her stalled dreams.

“They don’t think anyone will care if I show up on tour with an ordinary girl,” he said. “And by ordinary, I mean not famous. But here’s the thing, Katie. I think they’re wrong about that. And for the record, I don’t think there’s an ordinary thing about you.”

“Don’t live with regrets, Katie Bloom.”

Katie doesn’t want to be swept up by an unfeasible phantasy, and that’s what Jesse is, untouchable, unreachable, unavailable, unassailable but by gosh is he impressionable. Katie is completely beyond familiarity in this collision of glamorous rockstars and music’s celebrated - surrounded by perfect faces, beautiful bodies and passionate voices. A windstorm of the bizarrely dreamlike has Katie riding breathlessly in a coma-like heat, corralled by the inebriating lure of Jesse Mayes and his zestful lifestyle.

“You understand this isn’t Cinderella, right? The kingdom isn’t actually up for grabs.”

“I’ve never had a girl do the Cinderella dash on me. Kind of made me feel like Prince Charming.”

Where to start? There was so much to love, and though I never saw it coming, there was much that spun me for bother because I didn’t think I would rate this any lower than a four star. I had real, believable hopes for a 5 star so let’s talk a bit about why I lost some love. This book is definitely more sensualist and erotic than it is a love story, than it is a romance, because there is enough steam and smut made to last - I like both steam and smut, believe me, the characters wear it well and they share an amazing accessible chemistry, but it was too much, trembling on the side of ‘where is the story that I know is here, where is the emotional substance to these characters that I also know is here?’

“The truth, Katie Bloom, is that in my experience the women I date usually want something from me I’m not prepared to give.”

‘I wanted to know what it took to have a man like Jesse Mayes. For real.’

That the main couple didn’t get together from the start? I loved this. A good build up goes a long way for me. Any book that gives you a reason to stay between the pages is one that holds the kind of private value that makes it worth reading, and that’s how I felt when I started reading. It was exciting and exhilarating, everything I love to read about in a romance. I had my first trip when we’re only 1 day into the tour at the 45% mark, and I wondered whether we’d get enough time for the actual romance to kick in…

‘My eyes were shut when she got into bed. I felt her warmth and smelled her cherry-vanilla smell. She laid her head on the pillow next to me and sighed. And even in the dark, in the ringing silence, I felt the distance.’

With lots of heated frolicking, the story felt like a repetition of the same thing; in fact, a fair mass of the story could have been chipped and chiselled down considerably to make room for more romance and emotional grit. The couple have sex for the first time at the 60% mark, and I thought, ok, a tad late, but maybe I’ll get something more form them. I like some substance to my books, and I really was relieved at the 80% mark when we do get a bit of much-needed grit - which I was so glad for. Still, it didn’t stop me from questioning whether 80% is too far in for that kind of substance. I loved the story wholly at and after this point, which made me mourn what should have been the meatier centre-most parts of the story which could have done more favours, not just for the story, but for Katie and Jesse’s love story.

It really didn’t matter what I painted anyway, or who, since no one ever saw it. But it mattered to me. In fact, it should’ve mattered more to me.’

”Your work can be famous, but every little detail of your private life doesn’t have to be.” “Why? Why are you doing this?”
“Because I believe in you."

We don’t want to know that a hero is worth believing in when the story falls to the end. If a few things were hammered and chiselled in and out of place, if even a quarter of insubstantial content was cut, it would have been a ‘perfect’ read for me. Is it advantageous for a hero to only show some substance at the 80% mark? And the problem is that Jesse is worth believing in, he’s a great alpha character that puts a likable spin on the sordid rockstar trope, but the vast focus on sex leaves little space to see his value and depth until the near end. He’s not your typical rabid, hellion of a rockstar, he treats Katie as gentlemanly as a rockstar can get in this genre.

“You choose who you are out there, Katie. Who you want to be for them. You give what you want to give.”

When you love a story, like I did when I first started reading, you want to love everything about it, and when you don’t love everything about it it’s defeating. We can see flashes of something real, but it’s then heavily shadowed by the oppressively lustful. It’s hard to put faith by a romantic relationship when perpetual on page sexual hunger is not the same. For a love story to work you want to know it’s just as strong, just as believable outside the walls of any bedroom, and I did believe that, but only properly at the near end. Lust, desire and all the trimmings of sexual tension won’t be enough to effect emotional substance for any romance. I want to love a character, swoon for them, not dislike them for coming across as only a sex roller for a good portion of the story, and the lines with Jesse did glaze over this point.

All of my concerns aside, this was a magnetic read, and I was super-glued to the story start to finish. I have to admit that it's one of the best rockstar romances out there and I am excited to fish for new reads from this author. A bit too much smut without substance here though.

‘In fact, Katie might’ve been the first woman to cross my path in years who wasn’t gunning for what she’d already decided I might be worth to her.’

“You had a spark, though, you and Jesse. Brody and I both saw it.”

With Jesse’s personal hopes hinging on this project and an unmarked incentive to see this album a success, a convincing romance to up sales and sell the socks off this faux showmance ropes Katie into a makeshift lie. Worried it will be a temporary string of fantasies come to life with the shattering inevitability that, in the end, all will never be well that doesn’t end well when Katie wants to be worth more than a weighty paypacket and the background noise of a showman. How can things end well when love was never a part of the deal? Not wanting to get swept up by the hectic fervour and fanatic pace of Jessie and his seductive lifestyle, Katie is drawn in by this rockstar’s potent aura and the breathless, crackling pace of a rock ‘n’ rollers world.

‘This girl was on recovery road from something that had scarred her deep, and going on this tour, trusting me, was a major leap of faith.’

“People call me a heartbreaker,” he said, as if reading my mind. “I don’t enjoy breaking hearts.”

Jesse is not an open book - trace his pages yes, but you’ll never get written in enough to know his melody and when a seeker is mired in the ley of the lost she can’t find what’s trying to be sough with the certainty of one who has found themselves - and the gamble of love presents a chance to change both. When the decided threads of a showmance blend into the real ones of a swelling romance, rolling with rock’s finest, swilling drinks and guzzling overzealous, edgy music, has Katie Bloom in a delirious daze and Jesse deliriously distracted.
With the burning temperament of a rocker’s passion lights up the stage for an overzealously racy, exciting, ecstatic and chemistry-laden story of the bold and the broiling that bolsters an energetic story rounded off by an edge of pain.

‘She wanted more, but she wasn’t asking for it, either. Maybe she was afraid I’d never give it? Which was insane, because I’d give this girl the world.’

Trigger Warning: Lots of f* bombs, swearing and sexual situations. Also a lot of alcohol consumption and characters indulging in weed. The story gives mention to addictions - drugs and alcohol. Mentions a past suicide.

forget the cringey cover and watch me unapologetically slap 4 big, fat stars onto this stupidly good novel!
i had so much fun with dirty like me, and i couldn't have asked for a hotter and sweeter book to keep me company during yet another insomia episode.
jesse and katie have become one of my favorite pairings and if it wasn't for a few technicalities, i'd give this book all the stars.
jaine diamond, girl...you can write smut that goes straight to the brain!!! i need more of it.

"I didn’t want him to break my heart.” “No one wants a broken heart..” “I mean, I wished that I’d never given him that power. I know I pretend I’m over it, but I think I still hate him because it makes it easier to pretend he didn’t hurt me. That he wasn’t ever someone who amazed me and thrilled me"

Jesse and Katie's chemistry was 🔥 I love rock star romance stories, and this one didn't disappoint. They met while filming a music video for one of his songs, and instant fireworks took place between them. It had the fake relationship trope that I love, and they both had to deal with bumps on the road to their happily ever after ending.

*little disclaimer
I have been in the biggest reading slump of my life since the end of august… it lasted for about two months and was absolutely awful… fortunately around the end of october I finally got out of it and got back to reading more like I am used to :) unfortunately I still don’t want to sit down and write *proper* reviews… you know, detailed and with full and coherent sentences… ;) usually when I get like this I can wait it out and then catch up on everything once that mood passes, but it’s not looking like it’s going anywhere anytime soon… so what I am gonna do is update all of the ones I still haven’t written (and all of my future ones will look like that as well, unless something magically changes) with this little disclaimer at the top and then a bit of an intro plus some random and chaotic thoughts… ;) I mean… it’s better than no review at all, right? :) some of them will include spoilers, some of them won’t, but don't worry, if there will be any spoilery things I share with you in my review, they will be always at the end of it, clearly marked and initially hidden from view, so there’s no way you will read anything accidentally :) ok, I think that covers everything that I needed to share with you :) we good? awesome :) then let’s just dive in ;)

This one really hurt… as in, it had the potential to become one of my faves, but the execution of said potential was lacking… originally I gave this book 3 stars, but I am taking it down to 2,5 instead… I mean, it was a very weak 3 stars rating to begin with, soooo… ok, let’s get into my thoughts…

- it’s been less than a week since I finished this book, and I already forgot a lot of it… including most of the ending… what was the drama / conflict there? damn if I know :) and that in itself says a lot about the book...

- fake relationship between a rock star and your *average girl*? oh, the potential… :) fake relationship in general is one of my favourite tropes to read about, so I was excited to start this one… and the beginning was… well… how to put it :) I did roll my eyes a bit, but was hoping to see some character development later on… it didn’t really happen… Jesse started out as obnoxiously arrogant rock star and basically stayed like that… Katie was this gullible and naive girl and again, there wasn’t a lot of growth there…

- the romance… *sighs* the fake relationship turned into a (sort of) real and (very) sexual one pretty fast… and with lack of conversations between them… you know, the actual meaningful ones, stating some ground rules and / or boundaries, what else could we expect than a lot of stupid drama? I blame myself for not seeing that coming before starting the book :)

- this whole story was so ridiculously bonkers that I can’t even… as much as I could understand some things at the beginning, I was honestly hoping for a more balanced story and character development later on… I was sorely mistaken… everything just got… well, the best word I have for it is *more* :) more ridiculousness, more drama, more angst…

some small spoilers below, because as I mentioned, I already forgot a lot of the story ;) you’ve been warned :)

This one just wasn't for me… BUT if you love fast paced stories with entertaining writing style, steamy romance (even if it’s lacking in actual development) lots of drama, angst and then some more drama, this will be the perfect book for you :) and I do say that without any sarcastic tone at all :) we all have our own personal preferences when it comes to reading, and just because something didn’t work for me, it doesn’t mean it won’t be your new favourite read :) I’m still not sure if I want to pick up another book in this series… based on some reviews I checked out, even if I do, I might skip a few… there are characters I am interested in reading more about, but I have to make sure first it won’t end up a disappointment like this one ;)

XOXO

Dirty Like Me was an awesome rock star romance with a great H & h who were both fun, sweet, and totally sexy with smoking hot chemistry. I loved it but I will say that it felt longer than it needed to be because it did slow down for me but overall I'm so happy I read it.

Story: ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
Trope: rockstar, opposites attract
Angst: 😱😱😱😱
Smexy: 🔥🔥🔥

Super sweet and angsty story! Well written, it moves quickly, and has characters you'll fall in love with. The chemistry between them is crazy hot and it was fun to see their relationship develop. Have to say, I wouldn't have minded a little less drunkenness. I mean, I know its a rockstar romance, but still seemed excessive to me 🤷🏻‍♀️. Other than that, an absolutely fantastic read and I'm looking forward to the rest of the series!

Struggling artist, working barista, Katie has been in an artistic and emotional slump ever since her ex-boyfriend left her at the altar. Just when she thought she was ready to face the world again she runs into the incredible sexy, and unbeknown aced to Katie, rock star Jesse in her best friends office.

Jesse was just looking for a supermodel to star in his next rock video when a spit fire carrying individual sized cherry pies comes crashing into the meeting with her dog.

Jesse’s agent and promoter both decide Katie is the perfect person for video shoot and her best friend convinces her to sign on. From there, Jesse decides to ask Katie to play his perfect girlfriend on the road. 6 weeks is all he’s asking and it will give Katie what she needs to get back her confidence and artistic passion but she might just loose her heart because the attraction between Jesse and Katie is combustible.

The chemistry was simply mind blowing with characters that popped off the pages and right into your heart. This was my first read by Jaine Diamond, but it won’t be my last. Diamond captures the essence of a character’s soul and pens it to the pages creating a magical storytelling. I flat out loved Dirty Like Me, it was a contemporary romantic rock comedy I completely devoured.

I received this copy of Dirty Like Me from Jaine Diamond in exchange for a honest review.

3.5 Rock Star Romance Stars

Jesse Mayes is a hot rockstar who has the world and women at his feet. He could have anyone but after he films a video for his new solo album with an 'ordinary' girl , he makes the girl in question an offer to be his fake girlfriend for 6 weeks whilst they tour.
This was a good read and Jesse is a sweet hero under all his rockstar glamour. I liked him and I also liked our heroine, Katie Bloom. She doesn't fall at his feet despite their initial insta lust. I was rooting for them from the start and the angst was decent. Enough to keep me on edge but it didn't overwhelm my tender kindle heart.

The secondary characters are ....interesting and some are far more likeable than others. Lots of exciting stuff to come from this series.

HEA? Yes
Cheating? No

I read this book because I legit felt bullied into it. Every single Amazon search I’ve done for the past 6 months has shown me this book first. The author’s ad spend must be astronomical, because it doesn’t matter what I was searching for, Amazon thought this book was the answer to my prayers. Need a great romance to read? Try Dirty Like Me! Want the latest Melanie Harlow book? Try Dirty Like Me instead! Want shinier hair? Dirty Like Me can help! It was getting ridiculous! So, finally, I caved. I’m only human, OK??? I can only take so much pressure before I snap! Well, Amazon, I read it. And guess what? I DIDN’T LIKE IT all that much! So there!

Plot overview: “Average” girl Katie is hired by the hottest rockstar in the land, Jesse, to be his fake girlfriend while he’s on tour promoting his new album because REASONS. Lots of sex ensues.

First of all, I’d like to clarify that the first, oh, 35% of the book was enjoyable for me. I liked that Jesse wasn’t the typical drugged-out, whoremonger that you so often see in rockstar romances. He seemed like a fairly decent guy, even if he did make some unflattering assumptions about Katie when she was hired to be in his music video. He was cocky and acted unprofessional during that video shoot, but I could forgive that. For all that rockstar cockiness, he seemed like an OK guy deep down, and I liked him.

Now, Katie on the other hand…

Katie was a little harder for me to warm up to. First of all, she’s supposed to be this “average” girl that I, as a reader, can relate to. She’s supposed to be the kind of girl that helps readers indulge in the fantasy that ordinary, average girls CAN someday find happiness with the crazy-hot rockstar who is totally out of their league. But I didn’t find Katie to be relatable at all.

Katie keeps telling me (in her inner monologues) how ordinary she is, and yet she was cast as Jesse’s girlfriend in the music video right away, even though she didn’t have any modeling or acting experience. I don’t know about the rest of you “ordinary” girls out there, but nothing like that has ever happened to me.

And as if that wasn’t enough, pretty much every man that shows up in the book is hot for Katie. Again, that’s not typical, which makes Katie a bit of a Bella Swan. In other words, Katie is a ridiculously gorgeous girl with a completely warped sense of what she looks like and what people think of her. She keeps insisting that she’s plain and average, while clearly, she’s anything but. I have no time for that nonsense.

Then, pretty much everything from 35% of the book up through 70% is nothing but sex scenes. They’re well written sex scenes for the most part, but, Jesus...I get it. They’re horny and hot for each other. This book is over 400 pages long, and I think if you cut out every sex scene except for maybe one or two, the whole book could’ve been done in under 200 pages. That’s just too much sex and not enough plot or character development for me I’m afraid.

After all the sex, there was some totally unnecessary angst that drove the couple apart for a chapter or so. It was almost like the author said, “well, hell, I guess I need some kind of conflict to end this thing on,” and just threw some crap at the page to call it done. It all could’ve been handled with a nice, old-fashioned adult conversation. I have ZERO tolerance for conflicts that could be handled by acting like a grown-up instead of a whiny, overly dramatic brat.

So, long-story-short, I’ll no longer be listening to Amazon when they INSIST that I need to read something. I’m only going to read what I want to read, damn it! No one is the boss of me!!!

This is a first rate rock romance that gives you everything you would want; super-hot rocker who does not do girlfriends, a “normal” girl with a chance of a lifetime, a connection between these two that everyone around them sees, and sexual chemistry that is off the charts. Sure, people say this is the “same old story” but this one hit for me and I am an avid rock romance fan. This has become one of my favorites because of the author and the way she played out this rocker romance. You actually felt the sexual frustration between these two along with the heartbreak that they each felt for their own reasons.

Jesse and Katie met by chance and the connection that those around them seen had Katie landing a model job doing a music video with the famous rocker. For Katie it was a big thing because she had been a couple of years of working through the destruction her ex-fiancé did on her by literally leaving her at the altar. She considered herself unlovable and her self-esteem plummeted from the action of a spoiled rich boy. Katie had lived for her art and she had let that falter too after the humiliation she had gone through but now this was her chance of putting herself back out there. Boy, did she ever put herself back out there; nothing like doing a sexy love scene in bed with this undeniably bad boy rocker!

Jesse was putting out a solo album during his break from his band, Dirty and it was extremely important that this album take off and be everything he could hope it would be. Since his love scene with the cute little “normal” girl was hitting it big online with everyone loving the connection they saw between Jesse and Katie. So Jesse came up with a plan to get his music to sell and that involved propositioning Katie to be his pretend girlfriend for six weeks while he was on his tour for this album. The money Katie was offered would finally get her back on her feet and what could it hurt because she couldn’t stop thinking of Jesse. Sure, she realized that he was a womanizer who couldn’t settle on just one woman for very long in between all of his groupies.

So when did this line blur and over time was Katie the only one feeling the things she did? The way they both fought off having sex brought sexual tension to its limits at times but it was just a great basis for the things building between these two. Katie just had to keep reminding herself it was all pretend…to Jesse anyway. Was Katie really cut out for the paparazzi and the way they would eventually portray her and what part would Jesse’s ex-girlfriend and Dirty bandmate, Elle, play in all of this? Let’s not even mention how Katie’s ex-fiancé, Josh, played a part in all of this, too. For me this was an excellent rock romance that had you feeling all of the lustful moments between Jesse and Katie right along with all of the heartbreak that you felt with everything Katie went through. This is a first time reading this author and I would say a definite recommendation for all of you “normal” rock romance fans! I’m so glad to hear that there is going to be more “Dirty” coming because there are a lot of supporting people in this story that need their own stories told.

I was gifted a copy of this book in advance.

Well damn... 👀
I read this on KU but you best believe that I am buying it. It deserves a high end spot on my exclusive Kindle for books I love to re-live over, and over again🥰

I wasn't sure where this was heading, even as obvious as things were. The motions that Jesse and Katie took you through still left that mystery that it could still go any way. And I LOVE that.

I was not sure if I wanted to read the others in this series, but here I am, currently reading the bonus Epilogue to Katie and Jesse, with plans of reading the Novella before book 1, and definitely books 2 and 2.5.

So.. y'all need to read this book!
You'll thank me later😇

I would definitely recommend this read. Took me right back to my happy place for my love of all things Rock and Romance😍 And it's been some time since that was possible.

Thank you Ms. DIAMOND for penning such an awesome story🤗

❤❤❤❤❤ Hot damn❤❤❤❤❤

description

I've read so many different rock star romance books, that I feel that the theme is a little outplayed. It's always about how a normal girl meets a sinfully hot musician, who's usually giving this normal girl an offer that's way too good to refuse. Somewhere a long the way real feelings will develop, but because they're always both hurting in one way or the other, they won't acknowledge this until it's almost too late. That's why it's so refreshing to stumble across Jaine Diamond's take on this genre and I have to say, she doesn't disappoint!

Plot: Katie is a struggling artist who works as a barista at her sisters coffee shop. While going to visit her best friend she meets Jesse, who unbeknownst to her is a very famous rock star, who's looking for a model for his next music video. When Jesse isn't happy with any of the models his team decides to use Katie. The chemistry between Jesse and Katie is sizzling and when Jesse makes Katie an offer she can't refuse, she ends up touring with him for 6 weeks playing his perfect girlfriend for the world to see.

What makes this book unique, even in this over crowded genre, is Diamonds writing. I love the humor she's bestowed on Jesse and Katie, as it makes for some really enjoyable banter.

description

Even though, both Jesse and Katie has some of the standard traits for this genre, it's refreshing to meet a FMC like Katie, who actually has a back bone. Yes, she obsesses a lot about every little negative thing, but she's neither whiny, nor self-absorbed, which brings her a lot of redemption. She tries to be reasonable and put a positive spin on things, even if it's hard at times.

Heroine - Katie Bloom
Hero - Jesse Mayes

I enjoy these secret fake fiancee and fake girlfriend stories and this one had a great start, but then at 60% it fell apart. The angst part of the story was weak. These was a separation but no real fight and not groveling or anything. I lost my connection to the main characters and really did not care what happened to them. Things were just there. Nothing special or exciting. There was banter in the beginning, but then it just became predictable. Nothing memorable. It did not give me that feeling that I love in these type of romance stories.

ג'יין דיאמונד / Dirty Like Me \ Jaine Diamond
🎸🎸🎸🎸🎸🎸🎸🎸🎸🎸🎸🎸🎸🎸🎸

מה יותר טוב מספר על רוק-סטאר...?
ספר על רוק-סטאר סקסי בטירוף! 🔥🔥🔥

📚 "I’m gonna fake girlfriend the shit out of this joint." 📚

📚 "The more they see me loving you… the more they buy the music." 📚

📚 "every time he touched me, it was in public, and it was for a reason. And the reason wasn’t to make me feel good. It wasn’t even because he wanted to touch me.
It was to be seen touching me." 📚

📚 "You could never make me look anything but good.”
I rolled my eyes. “You’re just saying that because you’re all horny and there’s no blood left in your head.” 📚

📚 “You taste like sunshine.”
I burst out laughing, partly because I was nervous, but partly because WTF? “What the hell does sunshine taste like?”
He grinned slowly. “Like Katie Bloom and that girlie shit you drink.” 📚

אני ממליצה על הספר הזה לכל מי שכמוני, חלמה להישען על רועו של רוק-סטאר סקס!!! 💘🎤😋🎸

I love me a rocker book and what's better then a sexy rocker book? A sexy rocker book where there's a relationship of convince. That is one of my fav genres to read, a fake relationship build on real passion and chemistry. And not did Jesse and katie have passion and chemistry in spades!! Starting with one of the hottest rock music videos ever.

After seeing them light up the charts with their hot music video, Jesse has a proposal for katie that he thinks she will love. Play his girlfriend for 6 weeks while he goes on a huge tour promoting his new solo album. And in exchange he would pay her some big bucks But Jesse doesn't realize that katie isn't like most of the fame hungry ho's he is used to being around. She goes along with his crazy plan, because she can't deny there is something there between them and who couldn't use that kind of money. Especially when you got some artistic dreams to maybe achieve.... one day.

I loved everything about this book!!! It was sexy, it was sweet, it had heart and got me in the feels man!! The build to their relationship was so exciting and had me grinning like crazy!! I won't lie though I totally felt where katie was coming from when she made the comment " blue clit" cause ladies heed my warning now you will have some series sexual frustration as the story unfolds.

I had the honor and privilege to chat with the wonderful author, Mrs. Jaine Diamond as I read along. And it was so fun to get her little "hehe's and haha's" at my comments and sexual frustration shouty caps!!! I recommend this book to anyone who's ever wished to be the on the arm of a sexy hot rockstar.

I do enjoy a good rockstar romance, although I sometimes struggle with the alcohol, drugs and sexual promiscuity that seems to accompany this genre.

I did quite like this one, and it was nice that the couple didn't have wall-banging sex before we hit chapter 2, but there was just a bit too much of the "oh please, just fuck me, already!" line, (it ran on a seemingly endless loop) and that takes the romantic shine off it for me.

The continuous public grinding and face-sucking/groping got on my nerves, too. Great for exhibitionists, I guess. Or voyeurs. I just feel there is a lack of respect for the partner, and despite the plot device of acting as his fake girlfriend, it just seemed sordid. Whatever floats your boot. Afraid mine ran aground on the surfeit of sex, smutty talk and man-whore/groupie fuck combos. More erotica than romance, which is fine. I just need to believe in the relationship, too.

This was a good story, good characterisation and I certainly wanted to get to the HEA, but it was just a bit overdone for me. (I feel Kristin Callahan does it a little more subtly.)

In the beginning, this book was exactly everything I was looking for in a romance. It reminded me a bit of Pretty Woman. Then it turned into something I couldn't connect with no matter how hard I tried. I'd say the writing is good, it just threw me for a loop how the characters personalities seemed to change pretty drastically overnight. Unfortunately, there are just too many amazing books out there just waiting to be picked up so I DNF'd this one...

I enjoyed this book. At least, the first half of it.
I read the first half and i was happy i found another great series. But then, once the couple started having sex...it was all sex. And Katie's insecurities.
I feel like there wasn't enough depth...i wish we could've had more dialogue and scenes with Jesse and his friends or more scenes at his shows, more scenes with Katies becoming friends with the band and the rest of the crew...but there was almost only Katie and Jesse, either having sex, or Katie thinking she doesn't mean anything to Jesse. I get why she has trust issues and it's fine that she had them, but...there's something missing.

What is it with the MC using both names on people? Always saying Katie Bloom, Jesse Mayes, Jessa Meyes...

I really wished i could give it more stars.
